No account, no email address, no free trial that expires. Open the page, make the code, close the tab.

Your content stays in your browser

The code is built on your device. Your link, your Wi-Fi password and your contact details are never sent to us, because there is no server to send them to.

SVG as well as PNG

PNG for a screen, SVG for anything going to print. An SVG has no resolution to run out of, so the same file works on a table card and on a billboard.

The code never expires

These are static codes: the content lives in the pattern itself. Nothing here can stop working, start redirecting somewhere else, or ask you to subscribe to keep it alive.

Yes, and there is no version of it that is not. There is no account, no paid tier, no watermark, and no cap on how many codes you make or download. MakeTheQR exists to be useful and to introduce people to the other MakeThe tools, which is a better trade than charging five dollars a month for arranging squares.

No. Every code made here is a static code, which means the content is encoded in the pattern itself rather than pointing at a redirect we control. Once you have downloaded it, it belongs to you and works forever, even if this site disappears. Codes that expire are dynamic codes, which is a different product with a subscription attached.

As many as you like. There is no daily limit, no download counter and nothing to unlock. The work happens on your own device, so making a thousand costs us nothing.

No. The generator runs entirely in your browser, so the content of your codes is never sent anywhere. We count anonymous events like "someone downloaded a PNG" to know which tools are worth improving, and those events deliberately carry no field that could hold your content.

Yes. Put them on menus, packaging, business cards, signage or anything else, including things you sell. QR code technology itself is patented by Denso Wave, who have permitted free use of the standard since 1994. There is nothing to attribute and no licence to buy.

A rough rule is that the code should be about a tenth of the distance it will be scanned from: 2cm for a table card read at arm’s length, 20cm for a poster read from two metres.
